A fundraiser at the West Frankfort Moose recently banked nearly $3,000 towards the renovations as the Roan Center — emergency shelter for abused women and children, in West Frankfort.

The Saturday night event included music provided by the Lori Eisenhauer Band, food, and a silent auction with all proceeds benefiting the Women Center program and The Night's Shield (children's shelter) programs which are housed and ran out of the Roan Center.

The Center is a pilot program for the State of Illinois in an effort to house syblings together in a group setting during times they are taken out of their homes. The Night's Shield works in cooperation with The Women's Center and has joined forces and finances to renovate the former Parkview Nursing Home in West Frankfort into an emergency shelter.
